| DAILY REQUIREMENTS |
Hours 9.00am to 3.00pm, your child's day begins at 9.00am |
| |
| Arrival |
Parents should help their child unpack belongings, settle child to an activity, then let a staff member know that you are leaving. Always say goodbye to your child (never slip out while they are "busy" or "distracted") and tell them that you will be "back this afternoon at 3.00 o'clock" If your child has problems with separating from you, we will work out a procedure of leave taking.
Try not to drag out "Arrival Time" as quality play and activity begins when the children have the play room to themselves and all parents have left. |

| You will need |
1. A packed lunch in a Named lunch box. Sandwiches and other items requiring refrigeration should be individually labelled as they will be put into a separate container to go in the fridge. Parents are asked to provide nutritious food for their child's day at preschool.
2. A drink of water in a Named drink bottle.
3. A piece of fruit for morning tea.
4. A fitted cot sheet for the rest mat (mats measure 130 X 55 X 5cm).
5.
A covering sheet or blanket for cooler weather. (Terms 2+3)
6. These items in a draw string "rest-time" bag.
7. A teddy for rest time (if your child wishes). NB this should be the only toy your child brings to preschool. "Treasures from home" such as jewellery, china dolls, transformers, power rangers, swords, masks etc. get lost and broken and cause disputes and competition.
8. A sunhat. This should be brought to preschool every single day regardless of the weather.
9. A change of clothing - singlets, undies, socks as well as outer clothing. We change the children if they've become wet during outdoor playtime and if they have accidents.
Please wear old clothes to preschool so that play can be free and expressive. Please dress your child in sun protective clothing e.g. with sleeves. Shoes should be secure on children's feet and non-slip so as not to pose a danger when climbing. Party shoes and thongs are not appropriate for pre-school. |

| ALLERGIES |
| Arndu Preschool is both NUT FREE. Please ensure the food you provide for your child contains no NUTS. |
| |
| SUN PROTECTION |
| We are all aware of the increased risk of skin cancer to our children. Please provide your child with a sun hat. We will provide sunscreen from the Cancer Council at the "sign-in" book, for you to apply to your child on arrival. It is slightly perfumed, so if any of your children have sensitivity to perfumed products feel free to use your own sunscreen. The wearing of hats is compulsory. |

| LABELLING BELONGINGS |
It is extremely important that all belongings including clothes, socks, shoes, school bags, rest bags, sun hats, drink bottles and teddy bears have your child's name on them. This assists both staff and children in recognising and finding belongings and ensuring that they are returned to their rightful owner.
One option for ensuring that your child's belongings are all named is to use a labelling company such as "You Name It--Labels". We have an ongoing fundraiser with them and receive a small commission from orders that quote our code. Their vinyl labels are dishwasher and microwave resistant . The fabric labels are washing machine and dryer resistant , and you can select the ink colour and a symbol if required. All you need to do is log onto www.younameitlabels.com and place your order, quoting our unique code apn1103 (all small letters, no spaces) when the fundraising code is asked for. When you order online you will receive a 5% discount off normal prices! They can also be contacted by phone on 1300 360 677. |

| EMERGENCY PROCEDURES |
| There could be an occasion when we would need to evacuate the preschool. We have emergency evacuation routines posted in the kitchen, the office and classrooms. We have a fire drill once a term to make sure we have not forgotten procedures and to familiarise the children with the word "emergency". We use the "emergency-sign-on book" for this procedure. It is imperative that you sign your child in each morning out when departing. Please do not let your child write his/her name in the book , it is too hard for us to "read" these attempts at literacy and often their writing takes up someone else's space making it difficult for them to sign in. |
